Treat Dispensing Ball for Dogs
Your dog is naturally curious, and it's helpful to give them something to focus that curiosity on. Instead of them perusing through personal items and stirring up trouble, satisfy their curiosity with this treat dispensing puzzle ball.
You'll watch your dog spend as long as it takes to get the last little treat piece out of this ball, rolling it around with pleasure as treats work their way from the double-chamber ball.
How it works: The treat ball has two chambers with a variable-sized hole between then that allows treats to pass through. The ball has an opening on one end. As your dog rolls the ball, treats will fall through the small hole from the first chamber into the second, and then from the second chamber out the hole to the outside.
Your dog will be able to smell the treats remaining inside, and will continue to roll and play with the ball until every last treat is removed. Our little one actually figured out that he can more easily control the ball movement when the ball is on the rug, so he'll pick it up and move it to the rug to make it easier to get out the treats.
How to load the ball: The treat ball easily twists tightly together. You open the ball and place small treats, or pieces of small treats in the opaque half of the ball. We use small treats, or even break or cut up soft treats, like the "bacony" strips many dogs love, and place them in the opaque half. The adjustable insert lets you vary the size of the opening to accommodate the pieces of treats. It gets adjusted to a size that lets the treat pieces through - not too fast, not too slow. That insert then easily fits onto the opaque half, and then twist on the clear half.
Fun for the dog, and for you! You'll love to watch your furry one focus on the ball intently as they roll it with their paw and their nose, waiting for the treats to appear. The learning curve is extremely quick. To make it even easier at first, you can make the adjustable opening larger, or even leave out the chamber divider, so treats come out more easily. Once she's learned how to do it, feel free to increase the challenge a bit more. Take care not to frustrate your dog by
How long will the treats take to leave the ball? This depends on how small the treat pieces are, how large the opening is, how much you put into the ball, and how clever your dog is.
Will your dog enjoy this? We think so! Our little one knows when we're filling the treat ball, and hops with both arms up in anticipation of getting the ball. He just loves it.
